you know how people say you have to prioritize your life and you can't possibly fit everything you want/need to do in 24 hours? well i've never been able to relate to them. i've always felt like i could accomplish everything i wanted to and still have time to spare for blogging or reading or socializing or watching tv.
until today.
classes started at 8 am for me today, and then i bounced back and forth with no breaks from work and class until 9:30 pm when i finally got to go home. now, 13 1/2 hours isn't as long as an efy day, but i am somehow the most exhausted i've ever felt right now. i legitimately almost took a nap in the mckay building before walking home to my apartment. my eyes wouldn't stay open. my body wouldn't move.
and that's not even all i have to do! what about laundry? what about going to the temple? what about grocery shopping and making guacamole for my work party? what about keeping my room clean or seeing my friends? what about replying to that text from an old friend or calling my family or showering?
for the first time in my entire life, i can't do it all.
the laundry is going to have to wait. i might go another day without washing my hair. i won't make it to the temple on my break tomorrow, so i may have to go at night instead of hanging out with friends.
and still, at the end of it all, i'm happy. i'm exhausted, both mentally and physically, but i'm happy. i'm right where i'm supposed to be.
and who cares if that includes a nap in fetal position underneath the table in my classroom before the 10 minute walk home? anyone gonna challenge me on that one?
Amen. #nevergonnacleanourroomagain? haha
ReplyDeleteYou can do anything for one semester! It might be a lot, but it will end and you can go back to cleaning your room and hanging out with friends :) We've all had those really really busy semesters. Also, you might not get so tired once you're used to your schedule. New things take a lot more mental energy so once your settled in you might not need a nap in the McKay building. You got this!!!
ReplyDeleteok i totally missed your blog!! good luck with this busy semester!!
